Mid-morning on Friday, I heard back from our real-estate agent that the sellers of the house we put an offer on had accepted our offer. By that afternoon the agreement of purchase and sale was signed, and on the way home from work I dropped off the deposit.
So, we’re officially home owners!

The Offer
Posted in Home, Uncategorized on January 22, 2004 | Leave a Comment »
Yesterday we made an offer on a house in the east end. Ours was one of at least four offers, so there’s no guarantee that we’ll be the winning bidders, but I think our offer was a strong one in terms of price and conditions. Hopefully we’ll find out today if the house is ours, [...]
House Hunting
Posted in Friends, Home, Uncategorized on January 17, 2004 | Leave a Comment »
We’ve started to more seriously start hunting for a house. Over the past couple days we’ve driven around several areas just north and east of where we are now, looking at houses that are for sale based on listings from the Internet and our agent, who is also a family friend.
Our first goal is to [...]
Merita’s Birthday

Saturday was Merita’s birthday, and to celebrate we went to her parents’ place in the afternoon for cake and presents, and then the two of us went to dinner at Acqua, downtown at BCE place. Great food, wine and service. We then went to club 279 where our friends were, since it was also another [...]
Cookie’s Haircut

Cookie had a haircut yesterday at Small Wonders. She looks very different; her hair was very long, knotted and matted, and now it’s shaved down to almost nothing. Her bad eye is much more visible now, and it actually looks pretty good–mostly just a red spot, and some cloudiness.
We were pre-approved for a mortgage at [...]
Banks

Today marks the official start of our search for a house. The first step is going to the banks and seeing how much money they’ll give us. My dad has connections with bankers that won’t screw around, so I’ll talk to them first, and see what happens.
We’re leaning towards looking in Leaside and East York. [...]
Viewing

On January 2nd, the mother of a friend of mine passed away. Last night, Merita and I went to the viewing. It was a powerful experience, and our friend really seemed to appreciate our presence, so I’m glad we could do something to help her get through this difficult time.
In lighter news, today Cookie saw [...]
Family Hockey Game

On Saturday night we held the first ever (and hopefully annual) Kligerman/Goldhar family hockey game. I rented ice at Rinx for an hour, and a bunch of my cousins and two uncles went out for a skate, and played some shinny. It was lots of fun, and Merita caught it all on digital video, which [...]
New Years at Sassafraz

We spent new years eve at Cafe Sassafraz, in Yorkville, with drinks at the Four Seasons beforehand. It was a nice evening, and good to see our friends. Dinner was late–we didn’t actually eat until after midnight–but very tasty, and the live band in the club sounded good. I also saw our friend Washington, the [...]
